The Challenge

To create, with the marketing and writing expertise of Maverick Communication, an annual report for the Shaw Rocket Fund. This permanent, independently governed, not-for-profit organization provides equity financing for the production of high quality Canadian children’s, youth, and family programming for television. The Shaw Rocket Fund’s forty-page bilingual report focuses on the Fund’s successes, highlighting feature children’s shows supported by the fund as well as communicating Fund financials. The audience for the annual report includes Shaw Rocket Fund funders, as well as individuals and organizations within the broadcasting industry. For the Shaw Rocket Fund, this report is one of the most important ways in which they communicate to their stakeholders.

The Solution

The creation of this report required a design based on an overall theme which changes yearly. For 2007, the theme was ‘Building Connections.’ Children’s building blocks were used to reinforce the theme, while relating back to kids. The colors chosen were bright and cheery while the design focused on communicating the information in a clear manner. Headline typefaces were given custom treatments and the clean layout ensured each page was a pleasure to view and read.

The Results

Atom Graphics has produced the Shaw Rocket Fund Annual Report for the past three years. Each year a unique theme lends itself to creatively distinctive designs.

For 2007, the theme was ‘Building Connections.’ Children’s building blocks were used to reinforce this theme, while relating back to kids.
