The Challenge

Working in conjunction with Maverick Communication, Atom Graphics was commissioned to create an advertisement to show Pengrowth’s support of the Canadian Open golf tournament. Pengrowth is one of North America’s leading energy income trusts. As such the ad, which was to appear in various golf publications including Golf Canada magazine and the Canadian Open programme, needed to establish Pengrowth’s leadership and to communicate positive messaging about the Pengrowth fund to potential investors. The ad also needed to speak to golf fans, and express Pengrowth’s pride in supporting the Canadian Open golf tournament. The client asked that full colour versions of the Pengrowth and Canadian Open logos be included. A major challenge facing Atom Graphics was the need to turn the ad around in less than a week, leaving no time for a custom photo shoot.

The Solution

With time quickly running out, the Atom Graphics’ team worked to create an ad based on a comparision between the positive aspects of the Pengrowth fund and the various clubs used in golf. The supporting copy, provided by Maverick Communication, was placed on a golf scorecard. The grass background, various clubs, and scorecard were digitally combined to create a convincing image.

The Results

The finished ad provided a strong visual impact and a bright, positive feel.
