The Challenge
Motive Action provides unemployed people with work experience and job maintenance skills. The organization trains and secures employment for over 100 people annually with the help of funding from Alberta Employment Immigration and Industry and the Government of Canada. Atom Graphics was challenged with redesigning Motive Action’s basic website, which lacked a significant amount of key information about the organization. Our redesign had to speak to both potential clients and partners. The site needed to communicate enough information to convince potential clients of Motive Action’s value as a training foundation and to convince potential partners of the value of the organization to industry employers. There was a strong need to provide clear navigation for visitors, particularly potential clients interested in learning if they qualified for the Motive-Action program. Atom Graphics had previously developed print materials for Motive Action and it was important that the new site matched these materials.
The Solution
Atom Graphics recommended a complete redesign and development of new content for the entire site. The most important elements to address included establishing an effective sitemap and excellent written content. Atom Graphics worked with experienced writers Tom Muir and Emily Cargan for help with this stage. John Gaucher Images provided the necessary visuals. The new design aimed to appeal to Motive Action’s target market of young unemployed people. The typeface, textures, and colours invoke an industrial vehicle repair shop. Simple navigation puts a focus on the content. The page design incorporates oval design elements, which tie into the Motive-Action logo. Overall the design is bold, tough, and direct.
The Results
With an updated, clean website, visitors to the Motive-Action site now understand possible next steps in the site and what the programs offer. Over the next few months, look for enhancements provided by Atom Graphics to the current Motive-Action site.
