The Challenge
To redesign the existing website for Lux Windows and Glass Ltd., which offers the most complete line of windows and doors available anywhere in Western Canada. The existing site lacked content and was outdated; it did not explain certain key aspects of the Lux Windows’ product line and had a design that did not match Lux Windows’ superior position within the industry. Lux Windows needed a site that would showcase their entire line of windows and doors, and explain features and added value to typical visitors to the Lux site such as builders and homeowners. The details are what make the difference in Lux Windows whose products meet the highest standards of durability and reliability. The new site needed to communicate these details in a clear and easy manner that also got people enthused about their window design possibilities. One of the major challenges facing the Atom Graphics’ team was how to clearly communicate the entire Lux product line, and how to provide a separate, extensive gallery of images to show different possibilities in how Lux windows relate to the architecture of a given home or building.
The Solution
After designing a comprehensive print catalogue for Lux Windows, Atom Graphics used this strong design to influence the creation of the site. As with the catalogue, Pritchard & Associates worked with Atom Graphics to create the website. Again, John Gaucher Images provided much of the photography. Through our incorporation of an image gallery into every page of the site, we found a way to elegantly meet the challenge of explaining Lux Windows’ entire product line. On pages where a selection of photography is available that relates directly to the written content, the gallery appears complete with custom, seamless thumbnail navigation. Additionally, interactive cutaway images of each window style provide information on various features, without cluttering the layout with all features at once. Navigating the site is a rich and enjoyable visual experience. Vlad Hernandez handled the complex programming required for the special treatments within the site and implemented the site development.
The Results
A strong new design to match the company’s superior position in the industry has led to a clear representation of Lux Windows’ entire product line.
