The Challenge
Evoco provides clients who need to improve visibility, reduce costs, achieve compliance, and make better decisions across their entire real estate portfolios with the project management software necessary for construction, design, remodeling, and facility management initiatives. The company had an existing but dated website that could not be updated easily because of its inflexible navigation and design. Furthermore, the existing website’s colours did not work well together or adequately relate to Evoco’s corporate identity colour palette. Due to improper design placement on the original site, important elements were easily missed by the viewer. After receiving strategic recommendations from Material Insight for the restructuring of their website, Evoco turned to Atom Graphics for the top-to-bottom redesign of the site that included the site’s homepage, navigation, and internal page designs. The website update needed to result in a more intuitive site structure, flexible navigation, persistent contact information and calls to action, as well as a redesign to meet current best practices in usability and search engine optimization.
The Solution
Atom Graphics implemented the following recommendations:
- Family of homepage announcement images to be utilized for a variety of purposes
- Rotating marquee on the homepage to communicate Evoco’s positioning statement
- A left-side subnavigation to incorporate calls to action and recommendations on where next to visit on the site
- A flexible 1-, 2-, or 3-column approach for page content, based on the requirements of the page
- A family of icons for their industry solutions to provide a visual representation for each industry
- Custom marquee images and callouts for every main section
- Implementation of a complete online version of all their news articles and press releases (previously available only as PDF downloads)
The Results
Upon design completion, Cornerstone Technologies developed the site. The result is a website that provides a more complete user experience. The use of many evocative icons and images makes the information easier to understand and more memorable. The navigation is clean and intuitive, helping users orient themselves in the site. Visitors are always clear on which page they are on and on how that page fits into the larger site. Type treatments on each page are bold, direct, and speak to the added value Evoco brings to each and every client.
